The Pleasures of the Damned by Charles Bukowski
His prosaic style comes across as a diary entry from a bitter teenager, vocabulary included. It is a dystopia, to me. And this collection does that. The transition of his poems of mocking life to being sad about not living life more, enlightened some of my approaches to living.

Quotes from The Pleasures of This is a crappy thing to do with Bukowski, because Bukowski’s work and personality changed distinctly several times over his lifetime. If he didn’t bother to publish them in his lifetime he probably didn’t think they were his best effort and worthy of being published.

Not Enabled Word Wise: The grief he felt was enormous, world wrecking and I identified with that grief since I lost my husband and soul mate two years ago. Showing of 73 reviews. I believe he did it. In this volume, the language and spacing of his poems has an approachability that the common man can relate to, I relate to.
First of all, I’m really surprised that Some People didn’t make it in The Last Night of the Earth Poems. To put together this way is frustrating to the the seasoned reader and misrepresents him to the beginning reader. You leave blood, and tears, and shit streaks behind you Fun to read and makes an excellent introduction to his work. Let me start by saying I totally understand and agree with bukwski hype surrounding Charles Bukowski even if most of said hype is coming from a bunch of adolescents on Tumblr who most likely don’t have much life experience or at least don’t have enough life experience to od with Mister Bukowski’s way of life not that I am dictating who should or shouldn’t read this as I bukoeski everyone should!

Perhaps my favourite line from his poetry is from his poem entitled “No leaders,please” which discusses the idea of being ever changing in order to “stay out of the clutches of mediocrity”.
