There were a couple things I didn’t like about this book.

The other thing that irked me is that this is not advertised as a series, yet it is clearly the start of one. There are two elements that separate this book from the norm.

There are plenty of cultural references but the story does not get bogged down with unfamiliar terms. Blood Ninja is the epitome of an epic tale where readers will not only love the richness of lakr back story, but he or she invest their time, energy, and hope in all of the characters. As is often the case with ninjas, the violence in this book is pretty extreme.

The locations in the book are in fact based on real places such as Minata, Shirahama, Nagoya and the dead volcano crater which adds a bit of a historical twist and blends in reality with the fiction. Each page adds minor details to the characters image and finally on the last page a wonderful masterpiece is observed even if the character is dead.
Heiko and Bloodnina also underwent strong character developments, so much so that Yukiko transformed into a formidable villain by the end of the book. The readers get to know a bit about Japanese folk lore from characters like Shusaku, Heiko and Taro and the fate of the characters is directly related to these legends. This book really leaves you hanging. The fourth tower would protect him and his family from attackers.
