The nuclear warheads mentioned in the book were not attached to any missiles on the submarine but were stored in crates. Personality theory and research book. Measurements for everything given down to the last centimeter; the acronym laser is spelled out in full, unnecessary definition and delivered by one of the most egregious uses of info.
About Me For those new to me or my reviews Return to Book Page. To the ancients it was a fascination with the fallen, with greatness doomed by arrogance and hubris. It just got way way too boring.
Gibbins may know archaeology but he couldn’t tell a good story to save his life. The ancient history was fun and interesting, the premise exciting, but the characters were so awful and atlantiss of the action sequences absolutely impossible.
Review of David Gibbins’ “Atlantis” – Cipher Mysteries
It’s a chore to read. Refresh and try again. Goodreads is the world’s largest site for readers with over 50 million reviews.
Not only a shocking truth about a lost world, but an explosive secret that could have devastating consequences today.
Marine archeologist Jack Howard may have found the key to uncovering Atlantis, the legendary sunken city purportedly built by a flourishing culture. His first novel, Atlantis, published in the UK in and the US in Septemberhas been published in 30 languages and is being made into a TV miniseries; since then he has written five further novels, published in more than editions internationally.
I found this book in The Friends of Library for sale section at my local library for 50 cents.
Who knows, maybe something actually happens that doesn’t take place in a boardroom sometime later in the story, but there are a lot better books to read out there that are more interesting and I like historical fiction! The first pages is basically a bunch of scientists in a room talking about discoveries, ancient times, scientific verbiage that slows the pacing of the book down. The global casino – Africa: Jack is determined to stop the legacy of Atlantis from falling into the wrong hands, whatever the cost. All said and done.
Easily the worst book I’ve tried in All of the characters are described in superlatives and have multiple skills that are completely unrelated to what the person does for a living. It is the thrill of discovery that still drives Gibbins the marine archaeologist on. His novels form a series based on the fictional maritime archaeologist Jack Howard and his team, and are contemporary thrillers involving a plausible archaeological backdrop. The Best Books of Several diff I have never decided to quit reading a book until I picked this one up.
The writer spends a lot of time talking about underwater technology and weapons, and I meant a lot of time.
With a crack team of scientific experts and ex—Special Forces commandos, he is heading for what he believes could be the greatest archaeological find of all time——the site of fabled Atlantis——while a ruthless adversary watches his every move and prepares to strike.
