Wasn’t really crazy about this book- but I do enjoy the series! I have heard from others that these books get better with each one and I agree. The Soul Catcher grabbed my attention right away, and I loved delving back into Maggie’s world. Over and over again till I was sick of seeing it. Even though this book focuses on Maggie’s unresolved personal problems yet again, she doesn’t seem so uncharacteristically reckless.

I hope this changes.

Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. This time Maggie gets involved in investigating a series of murders where the bodies are posed near monuments in Washington D. Maggie’s own mother is caught up in the organization.

I enjoyed Agent O’ Dell’s newest case, and look forward to reading the next I liked it well enough. The victim had attended a rally nearby, led by the leader of a religious cult, suspected of having ties to another case and dubious behavior by him and his inner circle. Did I mention I love this series? Standing catcber their way is the fact that Maggie’s mother is a member of the cult and Tully’s daughter was the last person to see the murdered young teenage victim.

I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the Alex Kava novels I’ve read, but only because I figured out who did what about half way through the book. It will definitely be life changing. However, I’m hoping for far less Maggie drama going forward. Nov 05, Elvan rated it liked it.

THE SOUL CATCHER by Alex Kava | Kirkus Reviews

Maybe the FBI does not care about the cacher of their agents–woundn’t surprise me! It didn’t hold my interest and gosh can’t some writers come up with a bad guy who is NOT a wacko, “Christian”, cult, conservative, Republican, capitalist? I sol found this book too long, aldx boring and needing some tight editing. She spends a lot of time on her personal problemsreliving her father’s death, problems with her alcoholic mother and her own emtional problems.

Will she ever learn and stop going into these dangerous situations alone? The only reason I gave this a 4 star and not a 5, is I figured out who did it long before O’Dell, who was very distracted by her mother issues, but still as a profiler for the FBI, she should have seen this a lot sooner than she did.

Kava uses a strong supporting cast to provide Scarpetta-like authenticity and the psychological insights of Alex Delaware, and gross-out levels are high enough to satisfy eoul Fear Factor contingent.

The Best Books of The men holed up in the cabin were cagcher of Everett’s church, and the murder of the young woman took place following one of Everett’s rallies.

The identity of the murderer was apparent about two thirds of the way through and from there I started skimming. Maggie seems to be getting over some of her issues and I think this one shows a huge turning point in her relationship with her mom. I was pretty sure I knew who the bad guy was on this case, but the author did a really good job making you second guess yourself.

It made me want to throw out a challange to her–and ANY mystery writer. I am reading this series for a challenge so I will try Number three in the series and I am still not getting it. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.

Aug 16, K. Still, if she didn’t, I suppose the endings wouldn’t be as thrilling.

Maggie realizes the only way to find out is by using her own mother, a member of Everett’s church, as a pawn in a deadly trap.
